1. Nominations are welcome for any generalist or specialty function within the human resource field.
2. Awards are open to individuals and organizations located anywhere, but who have local impact within Silicon Valley, including the south, north and east bay.
3. The Awards Committee of the HR Symposium may contact members of the nominee’s organization to corroborate or obtain additional information about the nomination.
4. The Awards Committee may recommend placement of a nominee in another category where that may be more appropriate.
5. A nomination may only be submitted in one category.
6. Closing date for nominations is Friday, March 30, 2012.
7. A panel of judges, comprised of award winners from the previous year as well as Award Committee members, will select the finalists and choose the award winners. This year's winners will be invited to participate on next year's panel of judges.
8. The Awards Committee reserves the right to decide on the number of awards under the HR Excellence category depending on suitable nominations that have been received.
9. Award winners will be invited to attend the gala celebration on Thursday, May 3, 2012 where they will be recognized. Award recipient plus one guest each will receive a complimentary seat at The HR Symposium.
10. After being notified of the Award Committee decision, winners will need to provide photos to be used in a montage during the award introduction. For example, the photos can include a headshot, team picture, personal/family pictures, etc.

Q: What are the award categories?
A: Two award categories: HR Leadership and HR Excellence. You’ll find full descriptions of each category on the Categories page.
Q: What's the difference between HR Leadership and HR Excellence?
A: The HR Leadership award is for the leader of a specific human resource function or overall HR group. The HR Excellence award recognizes excellence for an individual (or team of individuals) who work within Human Resources.
Q: What criteria are you looking for in a nomination?
A: Nominations should convey the following attributes, if applicable:
- The situation (e.g., what was going on at the company before this individual implemented or led a new process, etc.)
- The individual’s actions, tasks, behaviors that contributed to their success
- The outcome (e.g., what happened or what was different as a result of this individual’s process, program, etc.)
- The impact on the business (include quantifiable results if possible)
- Quotes from client groups, leaders, etc.
Q: What size company does the nominee need to work for?
A: The scope of work is what is important, not the size of the company.
